The IPTV market has many small operators and few rules. That makes it attractive to unscrupulous sellers who take payment and then vanish or deliver something quite different from what was promised.
Common warning signs
- The price is too good: An extremely low price for an enormous range is rarely sustainable.
- Anonymous seller: No clear owner, no company name, no address and only an account on a chat platform.
- Pressure to buy now: Time-limited offers meant to make you decide quickly.
- Long subscriptions first: You are asked to pay for a whole year without a trial.
- Copied brand: Domains that look like well-known operators but are not the same.
- No support: You cannot get an answer before the purchase and so not after it either.
- Unnecessary personal data: A phone number, home address or work email is rarely needed.
How to protect yourself
- Test first. Buy the shortest period or a trial before you commit.
- Check the domain. A domain registered a few weeks ago should raise suspicion.
- Read reviews in several places, not just on the seller’s own site or on comparison sites that earn from clicks.
- Ask a question before you buy and judge how quickly and clearly you get an answer.
- Use separate contact details, for example an email address not linked to work or your bank.
- Keep evidence: receipts, screenshots of the promised range and correspondence.
Payment
The protection depends on the payment method. Some card payments may give you the chance to dispute a payment, but not in every case, and a service with unclear rights can make it harder. Payments that cannot be reversed, for example cryptocurrency, give no protection at all if the seller disappears. Never count on a refund.
If you have already been cheated
- Contact your bank or card issuer immediately
- Change your passwords if you have reused them
- Report it to the police if you have been defrauded of money
